Scheduled to fly in 2008, this laser will shoot down missiles and destroy vehicles on the ground. The beam is about 20" in diameter when it leaves the turret in the plane and about 4" at the target. The effective range is about 10 miles. I designed parts for the beam-steering and tracking portion of the project.
